Dr. Rupal Juran of Basinski & Juran, MDs, in Newburgh, Indiana, loves taking care of women and feels blessed to have the opportunity to become an integral part of their care. From minimally invasive surgeries and procedures to well-woman exams for females of all ages, including adolescents and teens, Dr. Juran is committed to providing the highest standard of medical care to women in Evansville, Indiana, and the surrounding communities. Although she specializes in gynecological surgery, Dr. Juran enjoys working with each patient to come up with an individualized treatment plan for their condition, based around their priorities.
Some of the particular gyn conditions Dr. Juran provides specialized care for include pelvic pain, endometriosis, sexual pain, sexual dysfunction, heavy bleeding, PCOS, ovarian cysts, polyps and fibroids. Some of these conditions are long term and can be incredibly distressing to patients, affecting their work, social lives, and relationships. Dr. Juran says, “I especially appreciate my patients with longterm gyn issues because when we can finally get them to a place where they can live their life after so many years of struggling, it’s incredibly rewarding.”
Originally from southern Illinois, Dr. Juran began her medical education at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where she earned her medical degree. She spent a year of medical school researching polycystic ovary syndrome at the University of Iowa as a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow. Upon graduation, she relocated to St. Louis for her residency in gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine, where she had the honor of being appointed chief resident.
From there, Dr. Juran went on to complete specialized training as a Fellow in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center (IUMC). Dr. Juran learned to apply these innovative techniques to treat patients with conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, and other complicated medical conditions so women would not have to undergo invasive, painful surgeries. Today, more than 99% of Dr. Juran’s patients successfully undergo minimally invasive surgeries for these issues, even in the most challenging situations.
It was also at IUMC that Dr. Juran became a lecturer in clinical obstetrics and gynecology. Today, she continues to educate medical students at Indiana University School of Medicine as a volunteer clinical assistant professor of gynecology. Dr. Juran and her husband, Peter, enjoy raising their young children in southern Indiana.
Bio and CV
I am thrilled be a part of this practice providing the highest quality care to women in the Tristate area and beyond. I have always loved taking care of women and feel blessed to have the opportunity to become an integral part of their lives. My particular interests include pelvic pain, endometriosis, painful intercourse, PCOS, ovarian cysts, and medical and surgical treatment of fibroids. I also enjoy caring for teens and adolescents and providing well-woman exams.
Though gyn surgery is my specialty, I enjoy taking an individualistic approach to women’s health from the perspective of wellness and love working with each of my patients to find a treatment plan suitable to their distinct needs. Many health challenges women face are quite sensitive and providing a safe and comfortable environment for women to seek treatment for these issues is a priority for me. I especially enjoy providing ongoing care for gyn problems that women often struggle with on a longterm basis, such as pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, PCOS, endometriosis, and fibroids. These problems can affect women at all different ages and stages of life, from the teenage years to after menopause and each patient needs and deserves individual treatment tailored to their preferences.
I was born in Chicago and raised in nearby southern Illinois, where my parents still make their home. I went to college at Northwestern University and then attended medical school at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. In medical school I spent a year researching Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) at the University of Iowa as a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow. After graduation I moved to St. Louis, MO for Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Washington University School of Medicine. In my final year of residency I had the honor of being appointed Chief Administrative Resident.
I then went on to complete subspecialized training in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center. As a Lecturer and Fellow at IUMC, I learned to apply the principles of minimally invasive surgery to patients that had previously required big incisions for their surgeries, including patients with fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, scar tissue, complicated medical histories or multiple prior surgeries. Over 99% of my patients are able to successfully have surgery without requiring a big incision, even with very large fibroids or prior surgeries.
I loved my time at IU and am proud to remain affiliated with IU School of Medicine by educating medical students, nursing students, ob/gyn residents, and family practice residents as Volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor of Gynecology.
I am proud to be a Midwest “lifer” and have converted my husband Peter to the Midwest as well! We are blessed to have 2 daughters born here in Evanville and look forward to raising our family here.
